Balance and Readability Patch
I've been picking away at the game's mechanics here and there after every testing session and it usually takes a number of smaller changes that sneak up on me and turn into a paradigm shift for the game. This time, though, I think I've made enough changes in the base of the game to justify calling it a larger balance and quality of life patch. The look of the book is far from "there" and there's yet a lot of editing to do but I'm getting more confident in the overall shape of the project.
As my pilot campaign progresses I'm pleased with how well my players are picking it up. At first, much of their increased comfort came from having me at the table rather than from the book, but more and more they're consulting and practicing the rules they read from the book, with less clarification from me. That said, this patch should greatly smooth things for any would-be player and also address some concerns I had with balancing the game as PCs gain more level up bonuses.
